Parenting or Sharenting

Campaign design, Info Graphic, 2021

Overview
This project is the first part of the Process Intensive Project, and the preliminary research process for this project was the result of a team effort.

Through research and interviews, I have discovered a growing social problem called sharenting, which carries the connotation that parents are spending too much time showing the world how happy and fulfilled their children are rather than conducting actual parenting. The term also suggests that parents are oversharing. Nothing online is completely private, and everything is permanent. Parents sharing posts of their children have little awareness about their children’s privacy online, which may cause potential risks for kids. Parents should think about the rights of their kids before sharing anything about their kids. Ultimately, it’s not the parents’ information; it belongs to the children.

In this project, the aim is to design a possible solution contextualized in the target audiences’ real-life scenario, so that they could be more proactive in receiving the idea. I used the playground as inspiration to design two display boards that interact visually with the play equipment and a webpage to allow the parents access to more information.
